Wall Street opens the week with positive note

FXStreet (San Francisco) - The US stocks market closed Monday with gains as investors' confidence was fueled by a set of good corporate earning reports including Halliburton, Kimberly Clark and Hasbro.

The S&P 500 logged its longest winning streak of 2014 while the Nasdaq extended its 5-day winning run, best since mid February. On the other hand, the Dow Jones moved inside a small 58 points range before closing the day with 40.71 points or 0.25% gain to 16,449.25.

The S&P 500 advanced 7.04 points or 0.38% to finish at 1,871.89; while the Nasdaq Composite added 26.03 pts or 0.64% to 4,121.55.

Strategists at RBS noted that the April and May medical care prints in the CPI in 2013 were weak.
